Valentine’s Day is coming up! I am not a huge fan of the commercial aspect of this day, but I love having a day dedicated to love. Therefore I dig through books and online content, and made this list of the most awesome and powerful plants and oils used to create the perfect sensual atmosphere on Feb. 14th. You’ll find massage oils, oil diffuser blends and a bath bomb recipe to make the day even more perfect!
Happy new year everyone! The new year always comes with new resolutions. Some are lame, some are far from realistic, but others can be a game changer. This season is not only good to stuff ourselves with great food, it’s also a great time to think about the past year, our accomplishments, our failures, and what we want to make of the upcoming 365 days. This is why I wrote this article and created a calendar with major mile stones to reach while we are all on the path to zero-waste.
Setting Our Zero-Waste New Year Goals
I love bath bombs, and all the oils and scents that make bath time a precious and ultimate relaxing moment. Therefore, I absolutely wanted to learn how to make them. The process to make them is a lot close to the way we make toilet fizz cleaner, but obviously it’s a lot more creative to make soaking body care ones.
Our new meditation session is up! Our wonderful Heidi Hancock, healing practitioner based in SE Portland. She’s providing us with great meditation themes and mindful seasonal messages. The holidays are definitely the most waste full time of the season. A national study found that on average Americans households waste increases over 25%. That increase led to 6 million tons of waste dumped in the landfills in 2014 alone (and the tendency in increasing rather than reducing)! And the crazy thing is, 70% of Americans would welcome less gifts and less waste. Click here for more info.
I’m a huge fan of self-manipulation and auto-conditionnement. What is that? It’s the way for a person to push themselves into doing something different. It’s changing the way we think about certain issues. For instance, to stop eating junk food, I watch a series of movies about food quality such as Super Size Me or Food Inc., etc. Watching repeatedly documentaries, movies, and consuming content related to the issue helped me feel more immersed in the new lifestyle I wanted to move toward.
Friday we made this surprising yet simple decision and it changed my entire weekend perspectives and priorities and you should probably try it too.
Wake up, swallow up a coffee, rush to work, work, come home, rest or party, go to bed, start over. The days looks often the same, and it can get easy to postpone change. Especially good change. How many times have we said, “oh no, tonight I’m tired, tomorrow, yeah tomorrow is my day”. In the age of immediate necessary shifts, our will has never been so close to procrastination.
Prophecy of Earth Changes – Quotes
“Native people have had prophecies that go back hundreds of years. They tell how if humans don’t take a responsible position in regards to relating to the earth, then the time would come when major changes would happen. I feel that we are into that now. Most people think of the earth as just here. That they can do anything they want to it. It’s just dumb nature. But to native people, the earth is an intelligent, living being. It has power. I believe that the earth will make the necessary changes if the humans won’t. That’s what is happening right now. And it’s going to happen with greater intensity all the time.”
From “Native American Prophecies” by Scott Peterson
I recently came across this excerpt from a book on Native American Prophecies and thought it to be a perfect summary of our times. It does seem as though we are at the point of no return. I believe there is connection between human beings and the earth in a way that is much larger than science can explain. I only hope to learn more on how I can help on a personal level. “We are going to be seeing major changes but the greatest change must happen within humans.” – Sun Bear
Educating myself on our changing climate and the solution we can implement in our life to reduce our carbon footprint through podcasts has been an interesting journey thus far.
It can be difficult to steer clear of anger when learning about the science behind our newly found earthly predicament. There is still arguments about how our climate is changing but there is no argument about the fact that it is changing.
