Summer is here! And with summer comes the sun and our need for sunscreen.
Personally, this is my favorite season. Temperature is going up, which means I can wear dresses, nice tops, and go to the ocean or the river as much as I want/can! Yet, to do so, I personally need to put sun protection on my skin, overwise my skin turns pink/red and I turn into a cooked shrimp.
I’m sure you can relate.
This year, I feel comfortable sharing about zero waste sunscreen. I spent many hours learning about the making process and the ingredients to put on our skin. My take away is that I will no longer buy one in a conventional supermarket.
Quickly after I started to aim toward a zero-waste lifestyle, I realized that to reduce waste I had to make the products I wanted to consume myself. And since I can’t start the day without an almond milk latte, I research, tested different ways and bam! Revelation. Not only I can make almond milk at home, it doesn’t take a lot of time and it taste better than the one I usually buy. Full disclosure, if I have a very busy week ahead of me I still buy my milk but I came to reduce by 50/60% the amount of milk I buy and that is what I would call a success in motion.
I am really happy with how our new batch of face cream came out and the texture and thought it was about time to share how to make an anti aging face cream. It is a little harder than making cleaning products, but if I, my my two left hands can make it I am confident anyone can. So why should you make yours and how to make it, let’s dig in!
When cutting down on waste and embracing a greener life, Zero Waste cleaning plays a big part. But why have we switched away, as a society, from natural and eco-friendly options? Why the general idea is that natural solutions don’t work… You guessed right, marketing!
The industry of cleaning product hit $600 million in 2014, and has been growing since then. Every year, we see new ads offering al keep providing customers with more and more specific type of cleaning products, increasing the needs, the purchases and… the un-necessary bull**** if you’ll excuse my French.

Follow the money…
As explained in my post on how to make dish soap, I explain that the cleaning product industry makes an insane amount of money and they are not ready to stop. To maintain and grow their revenue, they come with new marketing strategies that makes us doubt the efficiency of more simple products and encourages us to always by more and more expensive.
Valentine’s Day is coming up! I am not a huge fan of the commercial aspect of this day, but I love having a day dedicated to love. Therefore I dig through books and online content, and made this list of the most awesome and powerful plants and oils used to create the perfect sensual atmosphere on Feb. 14th. You’ll find massage oils, oil diffuser blends and a bath bomb recipe to make the day even more perfect!
I love bath bombs, and all the oils and scents that make bath time a precious and ultimate relaxing moment. Therefore, I absolutely wanted to learn how to make them. The process to make them is a lot close to the way we make toilet fizz cleaner, but obviously it’s a lot more creative to make soaking body care ones.
- White Vinegar is definitely something that changed my life. I knew it’s a great product. I did not know how much it was. For any cleaning purposes, there’s a good chance vinegar will be the ingredient you need. I now use it to clean my windows, mirrors, grease, as a multi-purpose cleaner, stain remover, laundry softener… The possibilities are limitless.
Because you don’t mess with hair style and for many using a hair gel is a necessity, I came across this recipe, tried it and it is wonderful! This aloe vera hair gel will save you another disposable container and all the worse chemicals they put in them. Moreover, it will do the work for a fraction of the price you’re used to pay.
On top of having a lot of benefits compared to big brands products, this gel contains aloe vera. This plant contains proteolytic enzymes which repair dead skin cells on the scalp. Leading to stimulating the hair growth. To make this recipe you need about 10 minutes and 3 ingredients. Ready?
If you needed to only have one ingredient to take care of your home and your personal hygiene, baking soda is the ingredient you need. From toothpaste to kitchen scrub, or shoe odor neutralizer… There’s very little baking soda can’t do.
