Recipe: Make Your Zero Waste Deodorant

This is among the best decision I have ever taken in my life: making my own zero waste deodorant. Too many times I have heard of those great, latest deodorant made with blabla and chemicals, only to find out a few months/years later that it was terrible for health. II feel it happened enough times for me to take the time (by time, I mean few hours of research, about 5 minutes per attempt) to make my own natural deodorant. Doing so saved me a lot of money, makes me feel good about not polluting the planet furthermore, and my skin looks a lot healthier!

This one is highly simple, takes no time, smell great and last for a fair amount of time. I do not regret my old deodorant!

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbs Shea Butter
  • 1 tbs coconut oil
  • 2 tbs cornstarch
  • 1 tbs baking soda
  • Few drops of Vitamin e (optional)
  • 5 drops of essential oil (I personally use Lavender, because I love that smell, but feel free to use any scent or blends you appreciate).

If you have issues finding Shea butter, I suggest adding slightly more coconut oil, baking soda and replacing the butter with Argan oil for instance. It’s great for the skin)

Preparation

Make sure you have a container ready. I use a small jar that I find in a thrift store that works perfectly. You want to make sure the mouth is wide enough so you can access your paste. Put all the ingredients in a ball, mix them well, and then fill your jar with the mixture. Let it sit for a few hours, you’re good to go! Be careful with the essential oil. It’s highly concentrated and when I say a few drops, I really mean it!

Give this one a try and let me know what you think. If you change something to it to perfect it too, I’m eager to know 🙂 If you know a recipe worth sharing, feel free to share it in the comment section!
